Discuss Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality May 8

The Spiritual Reading Group invites you to read and discuss Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality, by Richard Rohr. In this book, Richard Rohr looks at the development of some of Scripture’s central themes, and how this development impacts on individuality and church spirituality today. We will discuss the first half of this book - up through Chapter 4, on Monday, May 8, at 6:30 pm, in St. Andrew's House. If you are unable to attend meetings, you can join the online discussion on the Facebook page SAEC Spiritual Reading Group.

Celebrate the Ascension May 25

The Feast of the Ascension marks the 40th day of the Easter season and commemorates Jesus’ bodily ascension into heaven. One of the oldest Christian feasts, references to celebrations of and vigils for Ascension can be traced to the 4th-century.

St. Andrew’s will celebrate the Feast of the Ascension, one of the Principal Feasts of the Anglican Communion, with Holy Eucharist at 7 pm on Thursday, May 25. The choir of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church will join the St. Andrew’s choir for the service and will sing some of the exciting music written specifically for this feast. The Reverend Rob Price, rector of St. Dunstan’s, will preach and there will be incense.

Volunteer at Food Pantry May 27

St. Andrew’s provides a team of volunteers for the Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry, 3523 Beauchamp, on the fourth Saturday of each month from 9:30 am to noon. Volunteers help register clients, stock shelves, prepare bags and baskets, and assist with other duties as needed. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome to join in this fellowship and service to our neighbors in need. There’s no need to sign up in advance. Just show up and lend a hand.
